Naad Academy

The living practice of Mantra, Naad Yoga & Shabad Guru

with Satkirin Kaur Khalsa

Mantra, Naad Yoga & the Living Practice of Sacred Sound

For more than fifty years, mantra and sacred music have been at the centre of Satkirin Kaur Khalsa’s life and spiritual practice.

Her work is rooted in Naad Yoga — the ancient practice of working with sound, vibration and the human voice — and in the Sikh tradition of Shabad Guru.

Mantra is not simply music, nor only a technique to create a certain state of mind. It is a living relationship with sound.

When we chant, we work with something very precise: breath, rhythm, pronunciation, listening, repetition and the vibration of our own voice. But the deeper practice begins when we stop trying to make something happen and learn to listen.

In Shabad Guru, sound itself becomes the teacher.

A mantra may remain the same for hundreds of years. We are the ones who meet it differently each time. Through practice, something becomes quieter. Something opens. We begin to hear beneath the noise of the mind and recognise a deeper intelligence within ourselves.

Naad Academy grew from Satkirin’s lifetime of chanting, teaching, recording sacred music and practising Aquarian Sadhana.

It is a place to enter and deepen the practice of mantra and Naad Yoga — whether you are meeting mantra for the first time or have been chanting for many years — and to discover what happens when sacred sound is not only something you sing, but something you allow yourself to be shaped by.

      Naad & Shabad Teacher Training

Go deeper into the science, practice and transmission of sacred sound.

There is a difference between chanting a mantra and learning to truly work with sound.

The Naad & Shabad Teacher Training is an invitation into that deeper study.

With Satkirin Kaur Khalsa, you will explore Naad Yoga and Shabad Guru not only as teachings to understand, but as practices to embody. You will work with voice, breath, rhythm, pronunciation, listening and the subtle effect of sound on consciousness.

At the heart of the training is a simple understanding: before we can teach from sound, we have to learn how to listen.

Satkirin brings more than fifty years of lived experience with mantra, sacred music, Aquarian Sadhana and Shabad into this training. It is the work of a lifetime being passed on to those who feel called to deepen their own practice and learn to share it with others.

For practitioners, musicians, yoga teachers and anyone called to work more deeply with Naad and Shabad.

Find Your Way Into the Practice

There is no single way to enter the world of Naad. You may want to begin with one mantra and experience what a daily practice can do. You may long to chant with others, explore the music, or be ready for a much deeper commitment.

        Sangat.

        We Practise Together.

The Shabad is the Guru, but we do not walk the path alone. Sangat is the company of those who come together in consciousness. We chant together, listen together and learn from one another. Every voice is different. Every person brings another experience of the same Shabad. This is part of the teaching. For me, Sangat has always been essential. From Aquarian Sadhana in the early morning to chanting together in a room filled with hundreds of voices — something happens when we create the sound current together. Naad Academy is also a place for this. Come as you are. Bring your voice. Join the Sangat.
